Mrs. Deb Jarvis has been a part of the Beacon community since 2008. She works as our Office Manager and is the backbone of our school. Mrs. Jarvis is the person to go to if you have any questions about daily student life, school protocols and procedures, attendance, accessing student records, and so much more. There is not much that Mrs. Jarvis does not do!

Please contact Mrs. Jarvis if your student is going to be late or absent as she manages the attendance for all Beacon students.

In her free time, Mrs. Jarvis loves being with her puppy, Luna, three sons, and granddaughter. In the summer, you can catch her kayaking, digging for quahogs, enjoying the beach, or harvesting the bounty from her garden. She thrives in the summertime and in flip-flops!

Our
Story

Beacon Charter High School for the Arts opened in 2003 with an aim to provide an alternative, art-centered, educational experience to students from all across Rhode Island. In the fifteen years since opening its doors, Beacon Charter High School for the Arts has established a consistent track record of high academic achievement, high-quality arts programs, and an enriching focus on community involvement. In addition, Beacon has developed a school culture of acceptance and diversity, creating a safe environment for students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Beacon Charter High School for the Arts’ mission is to develop artistic thinkers by nurturing self-expression while preparing graduates with the academic skills necessary for sustained postsecondary success.

At Beacon, students declare an art major in Culinary, Visual, or Theatre arts. Our students spend about 20% of their time in art classes, where they focus on developing and refining their craft for their chosen major. The rest of their time is spent in college preparatory academic classes with curriculums that follow state and national standards. Academic classes are taught by well-qualified, certified teachers with diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
