Principal, Mr. John Burns

Mr. John Burns was named the Principal of Founders Academy in June 2023. He has been a middle school educator for 14 years, and he also has a background in music and theater arts. Prior to becoming Principal of Founders, he was Assistant Principal of Gallagher Middle School in Smithfield and a music/choral educator. He has a passion for social-emotional, anti-bias, and trauma-informed education, in addition to a relentless pursuit of literacy and numeracy for each and every student.
Outside of school, Mr. Burns devotes his time to raising his two young children to be kind humans, cooking and consuming delicious food, and learning something new every day.
Bilingual Office Manager, Ms. Gletzenia Sicaju

Ms. Sicaju has been the Office Manager at Founders Academy since 2019. She is a bilingual Spanish and English speaker and helps to serve families and students (at both Beacon and Founders) who need translation services.
In addition to helping us communicate with our Spanish-speaking families and students, Ms. Sicaju works as the Office Manager at Founders Academy and is the backbone of the school. She is the person to go to if you have any questions about daily student life, school protocols and procedures, attendance, accessing student records, and so much more.
Please contact Ms. Sicaju if your student is going to be late or absent as she manages the attendance for all Founders students.

Story
Founders Academy is an integral part of Beacon Charter Schools, with a mission to provide an academically rigorous curriculum promoting a strong foundation in the areas of math, reading, and writing, while introducing students to each of Beacon’s rich arts programs.
